Sinterklaas and Swarte Piet

Sinterklaas arrived!! Not without problems though. There was terribly rough seas. Sinterklaas' luggage was lost at sea. you know, the normal sinterklaas drama. For those of you who do not understand what I am talking about, please keep with me and try to keep an open mind.

You should definately listen to David Sedaris and his "6 to 8 Black Men". A completely worthwhile experience and a thought about the differences between cultures, it makes the world so much more interesting. (It starts off with gun control laws in the US then into the Netherlands Sinterklaas.)
Go here and watch parts 1 2 and 3.

It rained. But that won't stop the Dutch!!

Here comes the Swarte Piets!! (Black Peters) Yeah, I know. not so PC for us, but tradition in the Netherlands.

Swarte Piets doing flippies of excitement for their arrival and the soon coming Sinterklaas.

Swarte Piet on parade. Another Swarte Piet.

We are so excited!!

Musical Swarte Piets, there are different types. Acrobatic, musical... etc.

One of the annoucers, they made us practice "Horray-ing" for when Sinterklass arrived!!

Soon coming....

November is here. It has officially sprung. No wait, that's spring.
Anyway, most leaves have already flung themselves off the trees. It was mass suicide here for the wonderful leaves.
Last week, I had two final papers due worth 80 percent of my grade in each of the classes, and then a paper conference.. Huzzah its over. Tomorrow starts the new block!!! Karel van Mander, here I come. Less than a month until Italy!!
